We LOVE the beautiful creation of this week’s podcast guest, Gina Lamanna. The Fondle Project is a breast cancer awareness & empowerment campaign focusing on the importance of knowing our bodies through regular self exams, while also celebrating survivors who embrace their femininity, strength and confidence.

#FONDLEFACTS
1 in 8 women in her lifetime will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the US. When caught in its earliest, localized stages, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%.

we are so EXCITED to share our WIN of the week!

"If we all suddenly start talking about menstruation, guess what? Our daughters won't have the stigma attached to it," she says. "We just need a critical mass of talkers, celebrators ... people who are loud about their tampon needs or their cramps or their PMS or, for God's sake, the menopause."

~ Filmmaker Lina Lyte Plioplyte

We saw this film last year at the Milwaukee Film Festival and have been working since to bring it back to Milwaukee. And it is happening! We wish that all menstruators (and those who love menstruators) could see this film. It is done in a beautiful and fun way and challenges the stigmas around menstruation and menopause while shining a light on period poverty and the tampon tax (which 20 states including Wisconsin still charge).

We have the theater booked and the film secured and are busy working on event details with some of our local partners! Proceeds from the event will benefit Milwaukee Diaper Mission’s Period Program. Stay tuned for more details over the coming week!

and now for this week’s FIVE SENSES!

TASTE: The EASIEST appetizer EVER. The other day I (Rebecca) was hosting a group of women and needed some quick appetizers. I found this Goat Cheese Appetizer from @acouplecooks and it could not have been easier or more delicious (and a great way to use up the logs of goat cheese I had from Costco;) I used apricot marmalade and chili roasted pistachios. It took one minute to prep on the front end, 10 minutes in the oven, and then topped off with nuts and thyme and served with crackers or crostini;) I also made this Chickpea, Pesto, Tomato, and Mozzarella Salad from @twopeasandpod which was super easy and fresh! Perfect for a summer evening meal and great leftovers for lunch the next day!

SEE: I LOVE MY BODY. Oh Maya Rudolph we LOVE you!

SMELL: The Foraged Collection Hand Soap. A limited edition hand soap collaboration with Alexis Nikole Nelson (@blackforager) that celebrates the joy of foraging and environmental stewardship. Made with plant-based and planet-friendly ingredients, these hand soaps are available in three scents: Beach Rose, Juneberry
Basil, and Lilac Clove.

HEAR: Decision Fatigue- And Why it’s Especially Bad for Moms. The average adult makes 35,000 decisions a day. The average "default parent" makes a lot more than that. No wonder we suffer from decision fatigue. The more decisions we have to make, the more fatigue we develop, and the more difficult it can become to function. So how can we combat the frustration, apathy, and resentment that result from having to make all the decisions in the family? Give a listen to this podcast episode from What Fresh Hell.

“I'm in a point too in my life where between managing the kids, managing these businesses and launching this project, I don't want to make the decisions. I want someone else to make my decisions for me right now. Don't ask me what I want for dinner tonight. You just decide.” ~Gina from Episode 6

TOUCH: The Six Second Kiss.
Most kisses shared may be short and sweet. Perhaps you are running off to work, in the middle of cooking, or about to go to sleep. Dr. John Gottman says it’s long enough to make a moment of connection with our partner. It stops the busyness in your brain and puts your focus on your partner at that moment. Kissing can be a good exercise in mindfulness.

“I tripped upon a Gottman Institute post that they did where the post mentioned kissing your partner for a minimum of six seconds. Not just like the peck and run…what the post talked about was to stop and to actually take six seconds and like hold the kiss… So that there's this moment where it breaks, something stops in your brain, the busyness stops and the connection starts, right? That level of like intimacy starts where you're there connecting with the other person and taking that time.” ~ Lauren from Epsiode 6
