“Everything in nature invites us constantly to be what we are.”
~ Gretel Ehrlich
Nature has a way of reminding us to embrace who we are. The changing seasons, the steady growth of roots beneath the surface, and the quiet patience of a seed waiting to bloom—all of these reflect the beauty of showing up authentically and trusting the process. Nature doesn’t force itself to be anything other than what it is, and yet it thrives. Life often echoes this rhythm, asking us to nurture growth in spaces where we often can’t predict the outcome. Whether we’re raising children, tending to relationships, building a business, or caring for our communities, we are constantly invited to lean into the beauty of imperfection and trust that what we cultivate will take root in its own time.
This spring, we’ve been reflecting on this invitation and planting our own seeds—cultivating ideas and spaces that support growth in many forms. We’re excited to share three upcoming events that celebrate the diverse ways we nurture and care for both ourselves and our communities.
Through these events, we hope to create spaces where you can embrace your own cycles of growth, trust the unfolding, and celebrate the beauty of showing up exactly as you are. Just as nature does.
TASTE: High Protein Mason Jar Salads. My husband and I have been talking about adding mason jar salads back into our weekly rotation and loved that these recipes from Ambitious Kitchen offer ample protein to help keep our blood sugar balanced and prevent those mid-afternoon energy crashes. These salads are packed with fresh ingredients, but they’re also perfect for busy days when we need something quick, healthy, and satisfying. We love how the layers keep everything crisp—dressing at the bottom, followed by protein, grains, and veggies, with leafy greens on top. Plus, with options like BBQ Ranch, Greek, and Sesame Ginger, there’s plenty of variety to keep things interesting. Prepping a few of these ahead of time makes weekday lunches effortless and keeps us from reaching for less nourishing choices.
BONUS TASTE: How to Build the Perfect Spring Crudités Platter from Beautiful Eats & Things.
SEE: An Oprah Winfrey Special: The Menopause Revolution. Every woman on the planet will experience the transition into and through menopause and we need to be talking more about it. Next week Oprah joins Halle Berry, Naomi Watts, Maria Shriver, Mary Claire Haver, MD, OB-GYN, and Rhonda Voskuhl, MD, a neurologist who specializes in menopause to offer real talk, expert insights, and empowering information to help women navigate this phase with confidence. The special premieres on ABC Monday, March 31, at 9:00 pm CST, with streaming available the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.

Hosted at Artifact Events, this dynamic fair blends art, creativity, and community, showcasing a diverse range of pieces from independent artists across various mediums.

SMELL: Time for a Spring Simmer Pot. A DIY spring simmer pot is an easy and natural way to create an inviting atmosphere—simply simmer a pot of water with ingredients like grapefruit, lemon, peppercorns, vanilla, and thyme. As the mixture gently bubbles on the stove, it releases a light, clean fragrance that brings the essence of spring indoors. Perfect for adding a touch of warmth to your space during spring gatherings or quiet afternoons, this simple ritual offers a lovely way to refresh both your home and your senses.
HEAR: Lucy Dacus New Album. We have been waiting on this one and today is the day! In their review, Slate describes Forever is a Feeling as “itself a minor masterpiece of modern songwriting about love.” On her fourth solo album, Lucy Dacus (also a a member of Boygenius, the “supergroup” trio with fellow songwriters Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker) weaves intricate narratives about the complexities of love—its quiet joys, inevitable heartbreaks, and the way it lingers long after the moment has passed. Her ability to capture the raw emotional undercurrents of relationships, both tender and tumultuous, is on full display here. Dacus’ lyrical brilliance shines in her exploration of how love isn’t just an event but an ongoing, evolving feeling that reshapes us.
TOUCH: Stiff Hands. As I’m getting older, I’ve been noticing more stiffness in my hands, a subtle but persistent reminder of how our bodies quietly change over time. As someone who requires my hands’ fine motor skills for work, I’m especially aware of the need to care for my joints and stay ahead of potential discomfort. This reel from @get.hands.on offers simple, effective exercises to keep hands and fingers moving with more ease. Gentle stretches and mindful movement can help maintain flexibility and circulation so taking a few minutes each day to tend to my hands is becoming a practice of both prevention and presence—an opportunity to pause, connect, and nurture these hardworking parts of me.
