The weekend we’ve been dreaming about is finally here—our Dance Party Weekend has arrived! After pouring our hearts into this week’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Week panel on aging and transitions, we’re especially ready to move, release, and reconnect. That conversation reminded us just how much energy we invest—in our work, our families, our communities—and how essential it is to carve out space for joy, movement, and celebration. This weekend isn’t just a party; it’s a reclamation of vitality, a collective exhale, and a reminder that tending to ourselves is part of the work. Let’s dance like we mean it.

Our friends Nicole and Jamie from @milwaukeeperiodparties reached out and asked if we could host a period product drive in support of Milwaukee Diaper Mission’s Period Program and we thought what better place than our dance party!
Did you know that 1 in 3 menstruators struggle to afford period products? Want to help? Anyone who brings period products for donation on May 10th will be entered to win a one night stay in a Classic Room at the beautiful Dubbel Dutch Hotel!
Can’t make the Dance Party? The giveaway is only for donations made in person on the 10th, but you can drop off products at Nice Hair Salon (920 South 2nd St, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53204) or stop by the 4th Annual Period Party that Nicole and Jamie are hosting on May 18th!
a peak at our WEW talk from this past week
Some of the most life-altering moments arrive quietly, in the form of a resignation letter, a missed period, a parent’s diagnosis, a personal diagnosis, or a subtle shift in what once felt easy. Career changes, menopause, parenting, caregiving, divorce, aging—these transitions are seismic, even when they happen in the margins.
And yet, we rarely talk about the full emotional, physical, and spiritual toll they take. We compartmentalize. We’re expected to “pivot” gracefully, to “bounce back,” to stay productive. But behind the scenes, transitions often unravel our sense of identity. Because what was once may not be any longer. We may feel unrecognizable to ourselves: the once-driven professional questioning their purpose after burnout or the birth of a child, the woman navigating hot flashes while leading board meetings. And we are wondering why no one talks about this.
These moments shape us deeply—but they’re often invisible to others. The world keeps moving, while we try to make sense of who we are becoming. And we are saying we need to make time for this.
Mother’s Day isn’t easy for everyone. If you need to, give yourself permission to log off for a bit. Skip the scroll. Step away from the pressure and the picture-perfect posts.
Instead, plan something that fills your cup — whatever that looks like. A long walk, a nap, a solo coffee, time with someone who gets you.
Take care of your heart. You don’t have to do anything special this weekend. Just be gentle with yourself.

SEE: Wear Whatever the F You Want. If you were a fan of What Not to Wear or are looking for some inspiration to change up or refresh your style, we have it on our list to check out the new show from Stacy London (menopause advocate) and Clinton Kelly this week! I (Rebecca) am also heading to NYC next week so thought it was fun to see how Stacy London spends her Sundays in the city!
As someone who loves Anthropologie and Free People style, I am excited to check out Reclectic–the new stores with products that can’t be sold at retail from Anthropologie, Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Nuuly. Gurnee Mills is one of 6 locations. Tip from a friend… there are no fitting rooms and the store is big. Bring a friend, wear clothes you can try on over, and plan to spend time!
SMELL: Yolo Gardening Club. Jenni of I SPY DIY and Yolo Home Co. just started a new gardening club, built around a shared love of flowers, plants, and simple creative projects. If you’re local, you can join for casual, hands-on workshops at her Yolo Home, nearby gardens, and flower farms — with activities like flower pressing and basic gardening tips from folks in the community. Not nearby? Online tutorials and DIY kits are coming soon so you can still join in from home

HEAR: Sent from a friend: Heart of Gold: The Songs of Neil Young. A friend (thanks Amanda) recently sent Fiona Apple’s haunting cover of “Heart of Gold,” and it sent us down a rabbit hole—turns out it’s part of a new tribute album called Heart of Gold: The Songs of Neil Young. The album brings together a wide range of artists, each putting their own spin on Neil Young’s iconic songs. It’s raw, reflective, and full of surprises—perfect for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
TOUCH: 99 Parenting Affirmations For Good Days (And The Tough Ones, Too). In honor of Mother’s Day this weekend, we wanted to share a thoughtful resource from The Good Trade: “99 Parenting Affirmations For Good Days (And The Tough Ones, Too).” This collection offers gentle reminders for parents navigating the highs and lows of caregiving. From affirmations like “I am enough, just as I am” to “I have done enough. I deserve rest,” these words aim to provide comfort and encouragement. Whether you're a parent yourself or wish to support one, these affirmations can serve as a meaningful way to acknowledge the challenges and joys of parenting.
Can we ask a favor? If you enjoy this newsletter every week, please consider sharing it with a friend (or friends)! We could use your help in growing our audience so that we can continue to do this work. Thanks!!
look what I FINALLY ordered…
I (Rebecca) finally ordered a weighted vest—something I'd been curious about for a while, especially as a woman in midlife. Weighted vests are said to support bone density, improve posture, and add resistance to everyday movement, which felt especially relevant as I navigate this phase of life with a renewed focus on strength and longevity. It isn’t about extreme workouts or pushing harder, but more about integrating something simple and intentional into my daily rhythm. I am hoping it motivates me to add more walking to my week and can be an easy addition when doing things around the house. Have you ever tried one? I am interested to see how it feels… as someone who has neck and back issues will it be too much?
